The local school boards have confirmed their calendar for next school year.
A joint release from the Algoma District School Board, Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario, and Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l'Ontario says students and staff will begin classes for the 2019-20 school year on Wednesday, September 4th - a Professional Activity Day is planned for Tuesday the 3rd, extending the Labour Day long weekend.
PA Days will also be held September 27th, October 21st, November 22nd, January 31st, April 24th, and June 12th, while the Christmas break will run December 23rd through January 3rd, and March Break will be March 16th through 20th.
The last day of classes will be June 26th.
This is the first time in a few years that all four boards have had the exact same calendar - as the ADSB had differed slightly in recent years - though it still needs to be approved by the Ministry of Education.
