Superior East OPP Kept Busy With Canada Road Safety Week

Local police were kept busy on the roads over the last week.

Superior East Ontario Provincial Police say 64 speeding charges were laid over the recent "Canada Road Safety Week" from May 14th to 20th, with four seatbelt charges, two careless driving charges, and a fail to yield charge.

Officers conducted 22 RIDE checkpoints over the week, which included the Victoria Day long weekend.

With the increased traffic of the summer driving season, Superior East OPP also remind drivers to practice safe driving habits: reducing speed; ensuring you're well rested prior to travelling; and buckling up.
