Small Forest Fire Burning in Chapleau Area

A small forest fire's being held in the Chapleau area.

Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says "Chapleau 2" covers four-tenths of a hectare, located west of Spanish River Provincial Park - or more specifically, just west of Low Lake.

It's the sole active wildfire in the Northeast, reported early Sunday evening, and quickly listed as "being held".

The forest fire hazard for the Northeast ranges from low - in the Wawa area - to moderate - a band from Sault Ste. Marie through Chapleau to Temagami - to high along the north shore of Lake Huron, including Sudbury.
