TBDHU Confirms 3 More COVID-19 Deaths While Local Health Units Report More Cases

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit's reporting three more COVID-19-related deaths - at least two at a long-term care home where several residents have died.

The health unit's website now shows 26 deaths, with Southbridge Roseview's site saying 23 residents "have passed as a result of this virus".

The health unit's also confirmed fourteen cases in the Thunder Bay area - one at Southbridge Roseview and two linked to the Thunder Bay District Jail outbreak - with six in unspecified "district communities" and three in unspecified First Nation communities.

They've also declared an outbreak at Valard Construction's East-West Tie Project camp in Marathon, which has been linked to at least five cases, according to the Marathon Family Health Team.

In total, the health unit has reported 728 cases, 87 currently "active", including three in hospital, one in the ICU.

Algoma Public Health reported four cases over the weekend - three in the Sault Ste. Marie area, one in Central and East Algoma - bringing the health unit to 140, 35 "active", including one in hospital.

Public Health Sudbury and Districts has confirmed four in Greater Sudbury, bringing the health unit to 387, 68 "active".

The Porcupine Health Unit's confirmed one more stemming from the outbreak at Extendicare Kapuskasing and two in the Hearst and Hornepayne area - it's seen 170 cases, 18 "active".
