Algoma Public Health's reporting its first COVID-19 death.
A statement from the health unit gives no further details "out of respect for the family", though Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jennifer Loo says she's "deeply saddened by this loss of life".
The health unit says "this tragic loss highlights the seriousness of the virus", urging every Algoma resident to "do their part to protect our community, by staying home and avoiding close contact with others".
APH has reported 142 cases since the pandemic began, 28 currently "active".
Meanwhile, Public Health Sudbury and Districts is reporting five more cases in Greater Sudbury, bringing the health unit's total to 395, including 62 "active".
