PHSD Reports 30th COVID-19 Death, More Cases for PHSD & APH

Another COVID-19 death's been reported in the region.

Public Health Sudbury and Districts is giving few details about its 30th COVID-related death, except that it was reported in Greater Sudbury, like every other reported by the health unit.

It has also added two cases in Greater Sudbury - bringing the health unit to 2073, with 31 "active" - while three more screened positive for a variant of concern, for a total of 903.

Meanwhile, Algoma Public Health - which reported two COVID deaths the previous two days - has confirmed one new case in the Sault Ste. Marie area and another in the Elliot Lake area, bringing the health unit to 390 - though the number "active" has dropped to 24 with one in hospital plus three "non-residents temporarily in Algoma" in hospital - while five more cases screened positive for a variant of concern, bringing that to 96.

The Porcupine Health Unit's added two more cases in the Timmins area, two for the Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls, and Smooth Rock Falls area, and three in the James and Hudson Bay region - that brings it to 1172 reported cases.

It last reported 330 "active" - three outside the district - though that was before the latest cases were added.
