Anglers will be heading out on the ice in Chapleau this weekend, as the Rotary Club of Chapleau hosts the 24th annual Pike Ice Fishing Derby.
Sold out shortly after tickets went on sale, the annual event will see anglers out on the Chapleau River, and Jocelynne Bernier notes there have been some changes, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused the cancellation of last year's event.
While that means the prize presentations will instead be livestreamed through Facebook, Bernier says there haven't been any major changes to the prizes.
Bernier also reminds today is the last day to submit entries for the 25th derby logo and photo competitions, by emailing chapleauderbyregistration@hotmail.com
Virtual registration has been underway for weeks, though in-person registration is also happening from 2 to 10 pm today - fishing runs from 7 am to 4 pm tomorrow, with JJAM FM broadcasting live updates from 11 am to 4 pm.
