2 People Charged After Drug Bust in Chapleau

Two people are facing charges after a drug bust in Chapleau.

Nishnawbe Aski Police say their Drug Enforcement Unit and the Ontario Provincial Police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant last Wednesday, seizing a large quantity of drugs suspected to be methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, and buprenorphine, as well as Canadian currency.

A 42-year-old from Chapleau and a 43-year-old from Fox Lake First Nation are each charged with seven counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and another count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 - they were subsequently remanded into custody, set to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins.
