A careless driving charge has been laid after a passenger bus went off the road north of Wawa.
Superior East OPP say emergency services responded to the single vehicle collision on Highway 17 - about 25 kilometres north of Wawa - around 6:50 am Tuesday morning, finding the Ontario Northland bus had rolled onto its side and entered the ditch - several passengers reported injuries, with seventeen taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries, then subsequently released, while the driver has been charged with careless driving.
Police remain at the scene until the bus is removed, warning drivers to expect delays on Highway 17 and exercise caution while travelling through the area.
They're continuing to investigate, as well, asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash-camera footage to contact the Superior East OPP Wawa detachment or Crime Stoppers.
