Boats and lines are out of the water, as the Wawa Salmon Derby's wrapped up its 44th year.
Derby Chair Brad Buck's happy with how things went.
While numerous fish were reeled in over the weekend - with entire top ten over 30 pounds each - the largest was a 34.35-pound salmon that earned Wesley and Dale Wilker of Kapuskasing the $4000 top prize and $500 more for the biggest fish of Friday, while the $3000 second prize - and $500 for Saturday's biggest fish - went to a 34.05-pounder caught by Andrew and Rebecca Paisley of Gorham, near Thunder Bay - Rebecca also won the $250 Bill Young Memorial Award for the largest salmon taken by a child 14 years old or younger - and a 32.1-pounder from Terri Lee Fracasa of Vaughn claimed the $2000 third prize and a further $500 for Sunday's biggest fish.
Jordan Ziegler and Anna Biasco of Salem, Wisconsin, reeled in $1000 for the weekend's largest lake trout - at 6.85 pounds - while Nathan Prisel and Maggie St. Amand claimed the $300 Empty Creel Award, Stephane and Patrick Cyr won the $500 Participant's Prize Draw, and the Early Bird Registration Draw for $500 went to Team 12.
