Algoma Public Health's reporting its 31st - and only active - case of COVID-19 - and an outbreak at a Sault Ste. Marie long-term care home.
The health unit says it's a case of unknown exposure - evidence of ongoing community spread in Sault Ste. Marie and area - while FJ Davey Home in the Sault has confirmed this is the second time staff surveillance testing resulted in a positive in one week, prompting an outbreak declaration as of Saturday, September 19th.
A-P-H notes individuals with possible close contact exposure at the facility have been notified, and anyone who has not been contacted is not considered a close contact, though anyone concerned you may have been affected can call the health unit.
The neighbouring Porcupine Health Unit's also reporting a new case, its 81st, a James and Hudson Bay region resident between 20 and 39 years old - it's the seventh active case for that health unit.
Meanwhile, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit's confirmed a new case in an unspecified First Nation community.
Combined with a new recovery, it leaves the health unit with one "active" case.
Public Health Sudbury and Districts still has five active cases out of the 102 it has reported.
