Weapons Charges Laid After Collision Near Chapleau

Weapons-related charges have been laid after a single vehicle collision near Chapleau.

Superior East Ontario Provincial Police say they responded to the collision on Sultan Industrial Road around 3 o'clock November 28th, with further investigation leading to the seizure of five handguns, firearm accessories, and ammunition.

Police also arrested a 30-year-old from Thunder Bay and a 19-year-old from London, Ontario, each charged with: possession for the purpose of weapons trafficking; possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo; five counts of transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner; and five counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm.

Both were remanded into custody, pending bail hearings.
