NOHFC Announces Funding for Wawa Legion's Lift

The Wawa Legion's getting some provincial support for its lift.

The Ontario government's announced the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation's providing more than $5.5-million for 23 projects across the North, including $32,924.57 for construction and installation of a "barrier-free lift" at Wawa's Legion Hall.

Wawa's Royal Canadian Legion Branch 429 did open its lift for use in February 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic cut down on events held at the Legion Hall.

Other projects receiving support include the installation of a new chairlift, pond, pump house and ski patrol building at Searchmont Ski Resort.
