A new wildfire's burning in the Chapleau district.
Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources says "Chapleau 22" was reported Friday - about 0.9 kilometres southwest of Peters Lake and 1.5 kilometres southeast of Lower Prairie Bee Lake - though it's already classified as "being held" at 0.1 hectares in size.
It's one of a few fires burning in the region, along with "Wawa 15" - which is "being held" at 7 hectares in size, on the eastern shore of Lake Superior in Lake Superior Provincial Park, about a kilometre south of Laughing Brook Creek - and "Timmins 9", which is "under control" at 3151 hectares in size, after being reported at the end of May.
The fire hazard ranges from low to high across the North.
